What is it?

Cuisinart SmartStick Immersion Blender

A standard immersion blender with a detachable shaft and blade guard. Includes a stainless steel shaft and offers a variety of colors.

What we like:

It’s actually a stainless steel shaft, which is welcome in this day and age. We’re also big fans of the detachable shaft, which allows for quick and easy cleaning without having to worry about keeping the electronic circuits out of any water. The option to choose a variety of colors is a nice touch that allows for a bit of personalization, though it has no impact on the actual performance of the blender.

What we don’t:

The biggest problem users had was that a plastic piece that attaches to the drive shaft would wear down and break after extended use. Sadly, it renders the entire blender useless after it breaks. This was far from a unique criticism of the blender, and you should likely expect the same to happen to one you buy. Users have varying experience on how long the blender lasted – one user used it weekly for 8 months before it finally stopped working, while another lasted 7 months. That being said, some of those users still buy the same Cuisinart model to replace it because the quality is otherwise good and the performance is solid for the relatively cheap price. Just know what to expect before taking the plunge.

Where’s it made?

China.

Should you buy it?

Know what you’re buying – it’s a high-performing immersion blending that will work great…until the plastic piece inside breaks. It’s a shame that an otherwise exceptional immersion blender is marred by one flaw. If you need a small blender for infrequent use for 6 months, it might be perfect for your needs. But if you’re planning on doing anything more intensive than a weekly smoothie, you may want to take a look at a model that is more durable with a longer lifespan.
